I studied at the University of Crete in the department of Philosophy many years ago. It was the most innovative and pioneering University at that time and it still is as it gives you the opportunity to be specialized in a subject that you are interested in whereas you can attend many different modules no matter your preferred stream. In addition, there are many research opportunities for a student to explore as all the departments promote interdisciplinary collaboration. The professors are easygoing and well trained. In my time, there wasn't any available type of accommodation but I visited last year and there is a recently renovated student hall with a big capacity. I would definitely recommend it to Erasmus students who are interested in linguistics studies and history as they can participate in a series of field trips and they will enjoy their free time by exploring the island of Crete.

The University of Crete is an excellent undergraduate option. The wealth of knowledge in each academic semester is impressive. It is staffed by highly qualified teachers in the research field. In addition, it gives the student the option to pursue courses outside his / her department, thus expanding his or her spiritual horizons. As a biology student I have taken courses in medicine. It is quite demanding especially in the examination period. With proper material volume distribution and proper time management this is resolved. In the end, I highly recommend it.

Studying in the biology department was one of my greatest experiences. I liked the professors and their teaching methods because they were friendly and interactive. It was very important for me that we could choose a stream at the end of the second year and focus more on courses that we were interested in. Most of the labs and classes took place on the same campus but both the classrooms and the labs need to be renovated and furnished with new technological equipment.

I am an undergraduate student in the department of psychology. In general, I have had a very good educational experience at the university so far; the professors are very good at their job, with a sincere interest in the academic progress of their students and with extensive knowledge in their field. I believe the university is very organised in the way it functions - or at least my department is. It is also a clean and protected environment for the most part. On the downside, accommodation for students is not nearly adequate enough. Also, sometimes it gets crowded in certain classes and as a result, students have to sit on the floor to attend the lecture. The homework can be a lot to handle at times, especially during midterm season. I also believe we should get more lessons on more technical aspects such as the use of computers etc.

The program and the staff are very good. I think it’s the best university for this type of studies in Greece. I would recommend it to everyone who wants to study Biology. Many profs are very helpful.

University of Crete is one of the best universities in Greece. It is organized (schedule , timetable etc ). Professors care about students and their future, they advise them and as for the working ambiance, it is really good concerning the equity among colleagues. It is necessary to mention that although lectures are modernized and basic knowledge is provided, they are not attractive so the majority of students study just for the exams.

University of Crete gives the opportunity to the students to expand their knowledge inside and outside the borders of Greece and learn and practice alongside professionals who work all over Europe. However the courses are extremely difficult and the examinations even more. As a student I believe that it gives to the students the chance to challenge themselves but also sometimes to ruin them. If you love with all of your heart your chosen profession then there is no better place to learn, practice and study.

I was a medical student at the University of Crete many years ago. I learned a lot of things and I had so many different courses and sessions that I managed to broaden my horizons and found new interests. Attending lectures and labs was quite hard so I needed to do good time management and I didn't have a very interesting personal life. My professors were well trained and they had great academic excellence but unfortunately, most of them were very bad at teaching or not very approachable so it wasn't easy to get in touch with them. Nowadays, these things have changed to a great extent due to technology and that is really important. The new campus is outside the city center and there aren't a lot of food options or accommodation but the new hospital is bigger and better equipped, thus teaching is way better and more interactive. I missed being a student at the University of Crete and I definitely suggest to give it a try.
