Description

The University of Udine, or Universita Degli Studi Di Udine in Italian, is a publicly funded university located in the city of Udine in the north east of Italy.

After an earthquake hit the area of Friuli in 1976, reconstruction of the area commenced. This project included the foundation of the university, which opened its doors in 1978. The aim of the institute was to ensure that the community of Friuli had somewhere they could train in scientific and cultural studies, and where the Friulian language formed an important part of teaching and learning.

Although the university has a policy that states only Italian-speaking students can attend, the institution is heavily involved in student exchange projects to boost its ethos of international relations, with students from universities in Canada, Australia and the rest of the European Union taking part.

The University of Udine is split into eight teaching departments dedicated to: economics and statistics; languages and literature; communication, education and society; law; food, environmental and animal sciences; humanistic studies and cultural heritage; medicine; mathematics, computer science and physics; and engineering and architecture.

While the university's main campus is located in Udine, other sites across Friuli host buildings and facilities. These include centres located in Cormons, Gemona, Garizia, Pardenone and Tarcento.

Historically, the university and the area of Udine itself is known as "a meeting place and crossroads of different worlds and cultures". The institute also benefits from a network of research and teaching services and libraries, including the economics and law library, and the university hospital library to name two.

Hi new students, I am Sabrina, MBA student and university tutor for the university of Udine. I am writing this review in order to shape a new and fresh idea about an underestimate education opportunity that gave me so much. Looking us from the outside we seem just a little university in a little city, that does not have much more to offer than simple programs, but this is just the package of something that can inside have bright surprises. Starting from what was already said about the size, I have to say that begin small is just a pro: on one hand professors can follow closely all their students and create a stimulating environment; on the other, students can develop stronger connection with their mates, not only in their own fields, but also between departments. Other huge highlight are the well developed scholarship system, both for local and foreign. In fact, on one hand the university offers several and differentiate scholarship for its students; on the other, the university create an overall system of direct collaboration with students, that get hired by the university for little jobs inside the institution in order to let them earn some money. Moreover, the university literally bet on its student future, being extremely placing oriented: there is a spspecific platform for job announcement; twice a month is given the opportunity to the students to have job interviews in interested companies; once a year is organized a huge employment feir… and much more. Last but not least, the university is open to international environment, offering different programs in English in different fields and having a well structured languages learning program. These are just some of the advantages related to Udine university, going fast on some others: well developed and variegated programs, efficient offences, association promotion, new facilities, good canteens, cheap renting… After all, I want to conclude my review talking about the city of Udinez: a beautiful little pearl that is not just cheap to live, but is also rich of culture and history, with good food and wine and extremely student friendly.

I'm Eleonora, and I'm in my third year of the bachelor degree in Cultural Mediation, a branch of the faculty of Languages and culture (Lingue e-literature straniere). Now that it's almost over I can say that the University of Udine has satisfied much of the expectations I had when I decided to subscribe here. Professors, in general, are good (someone is really extraordinary) and helpful, it's easy to create a connection between them and the students. The courses of language are good, but even better are the one of literature, lead by professors from a different part of Italy, that are experienced. The wide range of languages is on the strength of the University of Udine: English, German, Spanish, French, Russian, Czech, Hungarian, Slovenian, Serbian, Romanian… All lessons are open, and professors always enjoy to have people from another field of studies to come and learn with others the language of literature or linguistics. The University of Udine and the city it self-are a quite place where to live and study. Udine has a beautiful historical center and many facinating buildings, parks and views. It is pretty near both to the sea and to the mountains. There are a lot of cultural events both inside the university and in the city, that embrace every kind of interest, from arts to literature, from music to science, from cuisine to travels and cultures. I'm sure you will enjoy it as I did!

My University is installed in a not so big city with almost 160 000 inhabitants, of which the 10% is part of the University Students' Community. The city is quite and really historical. There are many museums and historical places to visit. The University has some seats around the city and it is focused on the Business and Economics', Juridical, Literacy, Engineering, Information Technology, Mathematics and Physics and Medical Faculties. There are many opportunities for the students from an economic point of view, as there is an entity that provides some students' grants, a campus with many single rooms and some double rooms. There are some good cheap restaurants and pizzerias next to the faculties, bars and very good canteens that sell cheap meals. The university itself has many students from abroad and some associations and organizations, among which AEGEE-Udine, that take care of the students from abroad and that give you the opportunity of having not only academic skills and competences but also soft skills and competencies that can be learnt or improved only in an international and non-academic context. Thanks to the University of Udine, AEGEE-Udine is able, through 150 young students and volunteers, to involve many other students' in local activities targeted for the youngsters of the city and for all the students of the University. One of the reasons why the University of Udine finances associations such as AEGEE is because it recognizes the added value that such organizations bring to the young volunteers involved and to the university community, in terms of skills, such as Public Speaking, Project Management, Team Management, Leadership, Personal Development and many others. The association has an office in the University and it helps the new students to integrate and develop themselves in a very broad environment. The University of Udine is one of the few Italian Universities with English courses, especially at the Master Degree Level and with an approach not only theoretical but also practical. The University of Udine is considered one of the best ones in Italy and it is next to Venezia (Venice), one of the most famous Italian cities in the world.

I had a good experience at the University of Udine, regarding the courses, the teachers and administration. The city is quiet but the people are super friendly! There are many associations and opportunities to do sport.
