Description

The University of Liverpool is a public university and a member of the Russell Group of research-led universities.

Established as University College Liverpool in 1881, it opened its doors to its first set of students in 1882, in what was a disused lunatic asylum.
Its iconic Victoria Building, designed by the English architect Alfred Waterhouse in 1892, is a tourist attraction in its own right. This Grade II listed building, build in the Gothic style, inspired the term ‘redbrick university’, now used to refer to a set of British universities established in leading industrial English cities during the Victorian age.
The university’s motto translates into English as ‘These days of peace foster learning’.
It became an independent university and adopted the name the University of Liverpool, in 1903.
Today, the university is home to around 30,000 students, including 7,000 international students from 127 countries, as well as 195,000 alumni and 6,000 staff.
Among its alumni are the broadcast journalist Jon Snow, and former Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, while nine Nobel Laureates have passed through its doors.
It also claims a presence on every continent, including a Chinese joint venture university in the World Heritage City of Suzhou (Liverpool was the first UK higher education institution to establish an independent university in China), to research stations located in the Arctic.
As well as being the birthplace of the Beatles, the city of Liverpool also boasts the most number of museums and galleries in the UK outside of London, and was designated the European Capital of Culture in 2008.
According to Rough Guides, the travel guides series, Liverpool is the fourth friendliest city in the world.

My course is amazing, has an amazing level of support and everyone is always available quickly on their emails. Has students best interests at heart! I loved my uni anyway I thought they really were on top of what they were doing, always contacting us but now with the COVID 19 they have always been ready to act immediately. It was one of the first unis to close down and go online, providing immediate online support, we have all received extensions on all coursework, it was one of the first unis to give the safety net. They really care about us and our degrees. Couldn’t recommend it more. Also, the city campus is amazing! It’s got a few green spaces, everything is close together and the buildings are easily walkable across campus and yet it’s a short 5-minute walk into town!

It’s a common problem for most humanities subjects; we get very little value for money in comparison to STEM subjects. Overall the standard of teaching was high and most tutors were very supportive. However, the university could have done more in terms of resources for students. Perhaps providing books or trips away centred on the arts would have put us on a more equal footing to other subjects.

In terms of education, all the Russell group universities in the UK provide a high standard of education which the university of Liverpool has shown me to have maintained. Location: Liverpool university is located in the city centre, by which everything is a walking distance. Liverpool is cheap to live in, in comparison to many of the major cities in the UK.

There are many questions which may arise when choosing your university how's my course going to be structured what lifestyle changes will I have to make and how to make the most of my life at university. The University of Liverpool answers these questions for most students, there's always support available and someone who can help. As an engineering student, my faculty offer a lot of contact time in terms of problem classes after previous cohorts preferred this method of teaching. There are many opportunities to study abroad, volunteer, partake in sport and even start a society you are passionate about. In my experience there's something for everyone, the city is booming with life and one of the UK's most exciting economic hotspots. The university is conveniently located allowing students to explore the city's culture and not too far from natural delights.

I would definitely recommend this University for the modern facility (Chemistry), great safety practices, friendly studying and working environment. During my PhD course, I had good opportunities to participate in various entrepreneurship training.

Apart from having a really good campus and a easy to adjust environment, University of Liverpool accommodates students from various different cultures and ethnicity. This sort of diversity makes it easier for a student to adjust into the university life and helps to create different types of friend circles. The campus has everything you need, most of the necessities being a 5 minute walk from the campus.

Hello, I am a 3rd-year Finance and Accounting International student at the University of Liverpool. Currently, doing a placement year at a prestigious accounting firm. University experience: It was a great start to my career as UoL is one of the top-ranked Russell group universities in the UK. Firstly, as it was an undergraduate course there were not many international students for this course. Although, Professors and other peers helped me felt like a home and this boosted me in my studies. Professors are very experienced when it comes to explaining and sharing knowledge. They always guided me in learning new topics and encouraged me to attend many events that helped me in networking with people in the accounting field. Universities facilities: Library timings vary accordingly but you have a wide range of materials available to study and research. Staff are very helpful in terms of guiding within library activities. University Guild- The student union is a great organisation in solving issues raised by students and not only that they always organise events according to everyone's priority. We have many societies like Indian society, Language society, Vegan society and many more. They always organise socials and events accordingly. Accommodation: University accommodation is quite expensive and there are other accommodation providers who provide for a lower rate and it is quite far from the University's location. Career services: We all had training sessions on how to make a CV, Interview questions and Mock Interviews to make us prepared for the Placement year process. This helped me a lot to practice before my placement interview. Overall it was a great experience and the University offers a lot for international students.

This Uni is the perfect balance between campus and city uni with the campus being contained in its own bubble (it has a beautiful campus with old red brick buildings and more modern ones) but also being 10 minutes from Liverpool centre. They explain how to use all the University facilities well and are very good when it comes to settling in. I stayed in Vine Court, it was a nice accommodation however on the expensive side and then most students like myself live on Smithdown Road in the second year (which is super social and has everything you need). I love Liverpool it has excellent nightlife even if you don't drink and the city centre is super accessible, you could walk everywhere! Would definitely recommend to anyone!
