University of Debrecen

The University of Debrecen is a long-standing higher education institution with a diverse range of study fields and rich extracurricular engagement options in store for prospective students. The city is well-connected to other large cities nearby and it also offers a variety of leisure time activities to virtually all kind of well-respectable interests. Although until present day, theoretical aspects within the majority of educational programs and majors might overwhelmingly exceed the practical parts, one is offered a rather solid basis when it comes to obtaining the core knowledge to build on. When it comes to practical experiences, there will be a strong need for self-nurtured willpower to fill in the "crevices" of the individual curricula, when it comes to self-actualisation by practical knowledge-gaining. The volunteering, interest-, and/or study-based student life & student club/NGO-scene is rather diverse, unless you only inform yourself from the official university channels. There is a great variety of decent and exciting social circles one can choose from - at and outside of the uni scene, in and around town. Do your research with befriending with well-connected local Hungarian youngsters and you will see it for yourself. Do make an in-depth research before applying and moving to Debrecen in terms of all aspects you prioritise the most to have them all covered during your Debrecen life, and you will not go wrong with happily choosing our beloved city and university. The gems and perks of what Debrecen and its university offer to you may not always be on all-public display from the beginning, but they are there.

I'm a Hungarian student and I chose this university, because it was close to my local town and I heard good opinions about the quality of education. I don't regret applying here, however it is a fact that there are less opportunities compared to Budapest. Most of the teachers are really friendly and they regard the students as a partner. The other thing that I really like is that there are many foreign students who I enjoy talking with and help when it is necessary. The disadvantage of the university is that there are nice people in the administration office, but sometimes they are not well informed and it happened many times to me, they couldn't help in a basic every day problem. This university gives a more theoretical education, it would be great if it would be on an equal level with practical education. Overall I would recommend this university for those people who likes smaller cities and a good social life. There are always programmes, you can't get bored! ?

The quality of Education in University of Debrecen is high. I am impressed with the way teachers interract with students, how they make education look simple and understandable and above all, the practicality of studies. Given a chance, I would recommend a million people to this University.

I was studying horticultural engineering and we had a lot of practical exercises not only in the semesters but also in the summer. We have not only learnt those things for example pruning but we went our orchards and vineyards and tried it out. The teachers were mostly very kind and helpful although there are always some teachers who are quite the opposite. Overall, I really liked it.

- I like my teacher, they are very helpful to me. - I have good teaching from my teachers - my study depends on field training and practics in the laboratory, this thing helped me very much to understand what I am studying. - I made a very good relationship with the international and Hungarian students

University located in the second largest city in Hungary after capital Budapest. Although main branch of university is medical and medicine sciences, other departments like economy, computer sciences and informatics have their own huge campuses. Total number of students is nearly 30000 and more than 4000 are international. Year by year international students ratio increases. Main problem in this city is job problems which are related to your subject. There are some international companies in the city but competition is so tight.
