Description

Founded in 1666, Lund University is a public research university in Sweden that consistently ranks among the world’s top universities. Located in the city of Lund, in southern Sweden (close to Denmark and Germany), the university also has campuses in Malmö and Helsingborg. Home to over 41,000 students, 3,000 of them postgraduate, and more than 7,000 staff, it is considered to be one of the biggest Nordic educational and research institutions. It also boasts one of Scandinavia’s most extensive educational programmes, with over 300 degree programmes and 2,000 courses. Its areas of teaching and research expertise include economics, arts and humanities, theology, law, music and theatre, medicine, science and social sciences. Lund University’s Library, founded in 1666 at the same time as the university, is one of the country’s oldest and largest buildings. The city itself dates back to 990, offering 1,000 years of history in its cobble-stone streets, alongside the more modern day attractions of shopping, restaurants and music venues. With over 600 partner universities in more than 70 countries, Lund belongs to the League of European Research Universities, and Universitas 21, a global network of research universities. It’s also home to two important scientific facilities: the MAX IV – an electron accelerator laboratory for research into radiation, nuclear physics and accelerator physics – and the European Spallation Source (ESS), for materials research. The city of Lund has the youngest population of any in Sweden and its atmosphere is described as ‘youthful and laid back.’ The university has dark blue and bronze as its colours, and a motto, Ad utrumque, which translates as ‘Prepared for both the book and the sword’. It lays claim to many innovations and new discoveries, including facial recognition technology, the wireless technology Bluetooth (named after a Viking chief) and Nicorette, the world’s first nicotine medicine developed to help smokers quit their habit.

Lund University is the one of the top 100 universities, according to the world ranking statistics. However, I chose it because of the education approach and location. South of Sweden is beautiful. Furthermore, my choice of the university was determined by the new master program of Strategic Communication and the international English-teaching approach. Overall, LU is a perfect combination of academia and student life. Master programs prepare you for a PhD program. Education includes researches, group projects as well as individual papers. It provides the opportunity to express you both as a team player and individual stating your opinions and finding scientific support for them. Researches and interdisciplinary subjects help to develop different mind-set, challenge your way of thinking and views, and boost your ideas. Role plays are also a vital part of the education. They help to flourish your personality and master fear of uncertainty. The program is challenging, and I will definitely recommend it.

A great University. One of the oldest Universities in Europe. Great students, great teachers and a lovely atmosphere around the city. Usually gets warm in the early days of April or end of March so the climate is great as well.

I was so honored when I found out I was accepted to the International Marketing & Brand Management program at Lund University School of Economics and Management. I must say that my expectations were fulfilled. The university is well organized, has plenty of social activities, especially when you first arrive in Sweden. The professors are nice, half of them were non-Swedish, which makes the university more international. The majority of my classmates were from different European countries, but we also had people from South and North America, Asia, Africa, etc. There was a lot of teamwork and most classes had at least one team project which takes up at least 40% of the final grade. The exams required continuos studying throughout the semester, which was sometimes challenging when you have to arrange meetings with your teammates. The professors are very nice and friendly, I enjoyed how easy it was to communicate with them. Also, our student association Lunda Ekonomerna organized fun social activities throughout the semester, which was very cool. I would definitely recommend LUSEM!

I recommend this institution for people looking for the autonomous development of critical and creative thinking. Also for those who enjoy the collective construction of knowledge based on multiculturalism.

As a master's student, I really like the education system of Lund University. It is very student-oriented and all lecturers and teachers are very open to new ideas and criticism regarding the course contents. Different than other universities, you can easily have a good relationship with your teachers and they will try to improve your student experience to the fullest. The courses are very challenging and you never feel bored. There are a lot of work placements and practical experience that you can gain throughout your studies. Lastly, the university is well-organised and there are tons of student unions and clubs that you can join to never feel bored!

The university study quality and professors are quite good but Sweden is a racist country against a lot of nationalities. So, I consider pursuing my degree there was the biggest mistake I did in my life and If I can travel back in time to pursue my higher degree in the US, I would do so BCS it is a much better place compared to Sweden. At the end, Sweden turned out to be a waste of both my time and money. Especially after graduating and applying for over a 500 job ad and not even getting a single HR call. All the applications were mostly receiving an automatic rejection E-mails which proved to me how much the people in Sweden are sick minded and racist against the foreigners and for sure back in my home country, no one cares about the Swedish degree and to them, it is useless since it is not from the US. So to whoever consider pursuing a higher degree, it is better to do a proper thinking and a proper research otherwise, you will end up with a lot of regrets of the wasted money and time.
