Description
The Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences was founded in 1991 and is located in Magdeburg and Stendal in Germany.
Students can choose from 50 study departments which are taught in three departments that are located in Magdeburg and two departments that are located in Stendal. The departments include applied human sciences; economics; engineering and industrial design; water, environment, construction and safety and social work, health and media.
There are approximately 130 professors teaching across the two sites.
All international students must have adequate German language skills (DSH 2-Test or other equivalent certificates).
The university promotes intercultural exchange for its students through various projects and measures. The Buddyprogramm provides new international students with student mentors to help them settle into the university. It also organises events at the university such as trips, sporting activities and meals that international students can take part in.
The university also holds the Ferndurst and Wissensweh events which are a series of talks about various destinations, studies, visits and internships abroad. These talks are open to all students at the university.
The university offers a few courses that have integrated study abroad options. One such option in the the master's in water engineering which is offered as a joint degree programme with the Universidad de La Coruna in Spain.
The university conducts research across a number of areas including electronics and information technology, early education, public health and social affairs, innovation in civil engineering, water and waste management, renewable materials, innovative technologies, journalism and creative industries and economics.
