Description

Situated in the affluent area of Frederiksberg, Copenhagen Business School’s (CBS) 23,000 students study economics, languages, communication, politics and more, all with a business and industry focus.

Originally established in 1912 by the Danish Society for the Advancement of Business Education, CBS started issuing accounting degrees in 1920.

Its acclaimed main campus at Solbjerg Plads was designed by Danish architect Henning Larsen, and is typically Scandinavian. Its other buildings are spread throughout the city, all at a walkable distance.

CBS runs a substantial number of part-time programmes and courses. Those include 2-year executive masters to 4-year diplomas, alongside a summer university and short courses. In its teaching, the school says it aims to instil lifelong learning and leadership development required for executives, professionals and organisations alike.

It also comprises a separate commercial foundation, CBS Executive, which accommodates customised executive development programmes.

CBS offers MBAs with accreditation from AMBA, EQUIS and AACSB, earning it the ‘The Triple Crown,’ an award held by only 69 business schools internationally.

It also prides itself on having close working relationships with industry. For example, its president answers to a board of directors from the business community, as well as the academic council, and its partners include KPMG, Google, Deloitte and Maersk.

The school uses what it calls ‘Business in Society Platforms’ to encourage inter-disciplinary work, focusing on sustainability, public-private partnership, competitiveness, entrepreneurship, and maritime issues. It also encourages an international outlook, teaching 200 courses in English and with exchange agreements in place with other universities.

CBS’ 700-seater library holds up to one million visitors a year, and the institution is shifting away from physical collections toward digital, with more than 177,000 e-books and 44,87 online journals.  The school prides itself on replacing computers at least every third year.

For over two decades CBS has had a strategy of global development and internationalisation that it plans to continue in the coming years.

CBS is part of a great network of world-class business schools and thus offers its students outstanding international exchange opportunities. Although there is a huge variety of courses proposed, spawning from innovation management studies to finance classes, the quality of these curricular degrees is not perfectly levelled and more can be done to reduce the courses to the fewer core and higher quality teachings. The university organizes countless events, hosting the biggest and most successful corporations of the Scandinavian business landscape, giving its students many networking options and career mentoring programs. Lastly, the social environment is thriving, thanks to several students organizations involved in the organization of different kinds of events, from wine tasting classes to running activities. Most of the students are Danish, but international students are well represented.

All I have to say regarding my experience at CBS is that it is AMAZING. Having been tutored by world-class academic staff, I can definitely support that I am receiving the best of quality regarding my studies in Digital Marketing. Staff is very friendly and easy to approach. In addition, the facilities we enjoy are top class and meet any demands. Keep in mind that, EU citizens do not pay any fees. Student life might be non-existent here, but the location of the University in The very center of Copenhagen has a huge variety of choices to offer to students regarding their entertainment. Accommodation might be a problem, but early research of the market can be very useful. In addition, the University promotes diversity. In CBS University you can meet people from the whole world which is quite interesting. I definitely suggest CBS for any student who he's interested in pursuing a career in marketing or business.

In CBS you can expect an environment of proactive thinking and growth. The university staff is always open to help and to debate. The teaching methods balance theoretical knowledge and practical skills enabling the student with capacity and confidence to enter the job market successfully. The existence of students from all over the world stimulates discussion and promotion of different cultures, ideas and perspectives. I highly recommend this university for students in business-related areas.

Classes are challenging and conducted in a professional manner. CBS offers a wide range of possibilities to develop outside of the classes! Libraries and other facilities on the campus are very well adjusted to the student needs.
