This Bachelor's Degree major subject encompasses the following student goals: the acquisition of solid linguistic capacities in the areas of grammar, semantics and stylistics; the attainment of the basic principles in metrics and rhetoric; the acquisition of the fundamental knowledge of linguistics (among other features, dialect, phonetics and phonology); an insight into the traditional history of ancient literature as well as the important methods of their academic study (textual analysis, text interpretation, modern literature and cultural- theoretical appendages, and reception); an insight into the main categories of Greek literature and an overview of the literary epoch (the background and extensive reading of primary texts); an individual focus on linguistics or literature that should primarily develop intellectual curiosity, patience and endurance, meticulous precision, and courage for relentless lateral thinking as key intellectual skills and qualifications.
