Tufts Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development provides a superb foundation - based on coursework, direct exposure to research, and fieldwork - to understand and address the full range of issues involved in supporting children, youth, and their development. The overall aim of the major is to discover and develop one's special interests, passions and skills so as to be ready to take on graduate work or work in some related field. Majors go on to a host of careers servicing children and youth, including careers in health-related professions (pediatrics, occupational therapy, clinical child psychology), education, public policy and the law, and professions in media and the arts.
