The BS in Industrial Engineering program is a combination of three disciplines: mathematics, physical sciences and engineering sciences. Students are provided with knowledge and skills needed for designing, installing, managing and maintaining production/manufacturing systems. They are also taught techniques of how to transform resources into useful goods and services. Industrial Engineering is considered a profession, although it is less distinct than other engineering disciplines. The scope of knowledge taught in the BSIE program is broader and less specialized than in the chemical, mechanical, civil or ECE engineering programs.
