Oceanography

The University of Liège is the only university in French-speaking Belgium to provide this complete multidisciplinary training. Oceanography studies the marine environments, the seas, the oceans, the animal and plant organisms that live there. It makes it possible to analyze the quality and use of these resources and evaluates the reserves of exploitable resources. This training is based on an experience in oceanography developed in Liège for more than 70 years. ULiège's reputation in this field is worldwide. Our University is the only one in French-speaking Belgium to have an Underwater and Oceanographic Research Station (STARESO - Corsica), accessible to its students and researchers on a priority basis. In order to allow our future graduates to improve their English, to meet students, future oceanographers from other countries, some courses are taught in English together with students selected by the ERASMUS MUNDUS MER, MER+ and ECT+ programme.
