Description

Mathematics is not just an independent science, but plays a fundamental role in the natural sciences, engineering and economics, in medicine, psychology and in the quantitative areas of practically all other sciences. Mathematical results permeate almost all areas of life and form the basis for the majority of modern technologies. This goes hand in hand with the growing power of information technology, which enables the mathematical treatment of huge amounts of data and the solution of increasingly complex problems.

The “ Computational Mathematics ” course places particular emphasis on developing the ability to mathematically formalize concrete problems in such a way that they are accessible to algorithmic treatment, to select or develop suitable algorithms and to apply them appropriately. The course is theoretically oriented, but also has strong application-related components. You can acquire further knowledge from the mathematical areas of cryptography, computer algebra, algorithmic algebra and geometry, image and signal processing, statistics and stochastic simulation, dynamic systems and control theory as well as special knowledge from computer science, for example in data management, machine learning andAcquire data mining .

There is also an opportunity to learn how to use this knowledge to solve problems in application areas such as marketing, predictive analytics, computational finance, digital humanities, IT security or robotics.
