The Quantitative Sociology and Demography (SQD) course offers innovative and demanding training in quantitative sociology and demography and computational social sciences in line with the most contemporary developments in the discipline.
Students benefit from learning built up throughout the 4 semesters through fundamental lessons training them in sociological reasoning coupled with learning demographic and statistical methods, from the most classic to the most innovative, and software (SAS, STATA, R, Python) dedicated to the collection, processing and analysis of data, taught and practiced during the training. They collectively learn to design an original quantitative survey, to administer it and to analyze the data collected.
Students are familiarized, through thematic courses, with contemporary research in social stratification and inequalities, gender and family, social networks, immigration, lifestyle and cultural practices, health and sociogenetics, political sociology, among others.
