More details about the program

Description

Collecting primary data on households’ food security can be challenging, time consuming and costly ‒ particularly in areas with limited humanitarian access. Remote data collection is a flexible and efficient way to collect food security information and it allows for frequent food security monitoring in unstable areas without putting the enumerators at risk. This course aims to give a clear understanding of what remote food security monitoring entails, when it is a useful tool, and how to implement a remote food security monitoring project. The material has been compiled by the mobile Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (mVAM) team and is the result of four years of testing, designing and deploying remote data collection projects. The mVAM team effort was supported by the Center for Innovation of Leiden University, which provided essential technical expertise and pedagogical advice. The Remote Food Security Monitoring online course is free and can be accessed by anyone interested in setting up a remote data collection project. The course is self-paced – meaning that you can complete the course on your own time – and you can access all materials from the start. If you complete all lessons and pass all tests with a minimum score of 80%, you will receive a certificate of completion.
