Description

The University of Pavia in Italy, founded in 1361, is one of the oldest higher education institutions in the world.

Today, it caters for up to 24,000 students who flock to it from across Italy, as well as many different countries around the world.

Students have the choice of over 80 undergraduate programmes, over 42 master’s programmes and around 20 doctoral programmes. These are offered across 18 departments, which are complimented by the university’s 30 libraries.

Of its student body, around 1,500 are international and their courses are taught in English. Pavia prides itself on the strength of its global outlook and has more than 400 partnerships in place with universities and institutes worldwide, as well as over 700 ERASMUS exchange agreements.

Since 1987, through what is called CICOPS, Pavia has continued to promote cooperation with universities in developing countries seeking to encourage joint research initiatives and innovation. It also takes part in the Marco Polo programme, which only a handful of Italian universities are engaged with, which seeks to increase the amount of Chinese students studying in Italy, offering help with language classes.

Pavia is a member of the Coimbra Group and European University Association. Two main points of interest at the university include its botanical garden and its history museum.

My undergraduate course is: Modern languages and cultures (business address). The degree course allows you to study 3 languages of your choice and economic subjects. The course promised well, but now that I finished the 3 years I would not recommend it. The university does not meet the needs of students, it was often not possible to follow some lessons due to different overlaps. University fees are high in relation to the services offered. Good facilities, good libraries. Most professors are prepared, but some of them create problems for most students. The graduates in progress at the July 2019 session were 0. This shows how often professors hamper the students' university path. I cannot recommend this degree course.

My girlfriend and her best friend have both abandoned, after having been there as a visitor, I can also understand why. Let's say it's not very stimulating.

Unipv is very well organized and is based on a collegial system which is its unique characteristic. The services it offers are of the highest quality and always based on research and innovation. It is made to measure for the needs of the students, precisely because it is closely connected to the system of colleges, which makes it possible to expand the facilities on the university it can rely on, and this guarantees a unique cultural offer.

Wasn't too thrilled to come back to my hometown for university, but it's a very fun city when you're a student. There are student discounts and opportunities around every corner, the nightlife is very lively on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and anything you can't find in Pavia you'll find 40 minutes away in Milan. When it comes to the teaching, some teachers are inspiring, some are provincial, some are as monstrous as Scylla and Charybdis, just like in any other university. The infrastructure is picturesque yet outdated, with the notable exception of the beautiful, newly-restored Biblioteca Petrarca. I study Lettere Moderne and it's a good enough course; I am also in some very interesting extracurricular activities, but I had to dig a little to find them Tuition, accommodation and transportation are all very reasonably priced. Not a bad university, I would recommend it to all those who think Bologna to be a bit too intense and Milan a bit too expensive.

The University of Pavia is one of the most ancient universities in Italy and in the world. Pavia is a small town, perfect for the young students that leave their house for the first time. It is also incredibly cheap for students, offering a lot of opportunities for free time, like sports, bars, restaurants and local concerts. Professors are incredibly competent and put their students in the first place. The university offers a great variety of classes and degrees, even in the English language, and tutors are always available to help students outside of the scholastic time. I started my journey at the University of Pavia seven years ago, when I started my bachelor's in Biotechnology. I fell in love with the classes, because I could have touch with my hand the passion for Science and knowledge all around me. In the Biology and Biotechnology Department, professors love their job and can transmit this passion to their students. During my career, I had also the opportunity to travel abroad with Erasmus Traineeship, to expand my network and my experiences, like many of my colleagues could have done, thanks to the scholarships offered by the university. I strongly recommend this University for all the young students that want to start their path in a competitive but friendly environment, without all the disadvantages that a bigger city could bring.
