Advanced technology
Unique innovation and entrepreneurship offerings are supported by the Flinders New Venture Institute, a global entrepreneurship leader located at the University’s high-tech Tonsley campus, while its Victoria Square campus provides an alternative study space in the heart of the city. Research strengths
Flinders University’s research strengths include biomedical and clinical sciences, culture, policy and society, health and medicine, mental health and human behaviour, molecular science and technology, defence, engineering, water and environment. Its research contributions are rich and growing, with some 90 per cent ranked at or above world class by Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA).

University life
Undergraduate and postgraduate courses are offered for some 26,000 students. A proudly multicultural university since establishment, Flinders’ 5,400 international students come from more than 90 countries, with main campus featuring on-site accommodation for 560 students and a highly acclaimed international student support centre.
Flinders University is focused on doing everything possible to ensure students’ time at university is the best it can be, and we provide extensive academic and personal support. Our priority on student experience is reflected through outstanding food and other retail services provided on campus, health and wellbeing resources and services, student grants, counselling services (including careers and financial) and the many social opportunities we coordinate to connect students and help them make the most of their life at Flinders University.
In 2020 Flinders Train Station will open, directly connecting the University’s main campus to its Tonsley innovation precinct and the Adelaide city centre. The adjacent Flinders Village development has also commenced, which will add further research facilities and additional student accommodation amid cafés, shops and other community amenities in a thriving urban centre.

With unique expertise in rural and remote area education through Flinders’ Northern Territory Medical Program, students are supported to complete a Flinders Doctor of Medicine in Darwin through facilities in Alice Springs, Katherine and Nhulunbuy. Rural medical, nursing, and allied health coursesdelivered at Renmark and other South Australian regional centres are identical in structure to those in Adelaide.
Postgraduate study
Flinders University offers a range of postgraduate courses to help people realise their full potential by excelling in, or changing, their careers. Many of the University’s postgraduate courses are nested, meaning there are flexible entry and exit points. For example, those who enrol in a Masters and do not complete it – but do complete the nested Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma – may exit with that qualification.
With over 90 online postgraduate courses to choose from, students enjoy flexibility at Flinders University to study at the pace and place that suits their lifestyle. Students may be eligible for credit towards their course depending on prior skills, experience and study.
