Flinders University is headquartered in South Australia with a footprint that extends through regional and remote Australia. Internationally, joint courses are delivered with leading universities in China, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Ranked in the top 2% of world universities, it is number one in South Australia for teaching quality, student support, student/teacher ratio and undergraduate starting salary.

In an era of disruptive change, Flinders University is growing its international reputation as a world leader in research, an innovator in contemporary education and a source of enterprising graduates equipped to change the world.

Advanced technology

Unique innovation and entrepreneurship offerings are supported by the Flinders New Venture Institute, a global entrepreneurship leader located at the University’s high-tech Tonsley campus, while its Victoria Square campus provides an alternative study space in the heart of the city. An award winning, state-of-the-art student hub at the main Bedford Park campus fosters interactive learning in a digitally enabled environment.

Programs at Flinders University are regularly reviewed with industry partners to ensure advances in technology are incorporated in all curriculums, framing new courses, course content or investments to support outstanding student learning.

Research strengths

Flinders University’s research strengths include biomedical and clinical sciences, culture, policy and society, health and medicine, mental health and human behaviour, molecular science and technology, defence, engineering, water and environment.  Its research contributions are rich and growing, with some 90 per cent ranked at or above world class by Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA).

With a mission to change lives and change the world, our researchers are addressing challenges of local, national and global significance to deliver outcomes for the betterment of society. They do this through boldly and bravely contesting ideas, adopting new approaches, and pushing the boundaries of knowledge to uncover new insights and learnings.

University life

Undergraduate and postgraduate courses are offered for some 26,000 students. A proudly multicultural university since establishment, Flinders’ 5,400 international students come from more than 90 countries, with main campus featuring on-site accommodation for 560 students and a highly acclaimed international student support centre.

Flinders University is focused on doing everything possible to ensure students’ time at university is the best it can be, and we provide extensive academic and personal support. Our priority on student experience is reflected through outstanding food and other retail services provided on campus, health and wellbeing resources and services, student grants, counselling services (including careers and financial) and the many social opportunities we coordinate to connect students and help them make the most of their life at Flinders University.

In 2020 Flinders Train Station will open, directly connecting the University’s main campus to its Tonsley innovation precinct and the Adelaide city centre. The adjacent Flinders Village development has also commenced, which will add further research facilities and additional student accommodation amid cafés, shops and other community amenities in a thriving urban centre.
