BSc Hons Product Design and Technology

This programme has been designed through our close industry links with leading engineering and design companies and provides the specialist knowledge and expertise required for a professional career in product design. Project-based learning in all years, including live industry-led projects, will help you develop the transferable skills and multi-disciplinary awareness so highly prized by industry. The first year will establish the fundamentals of design and technology and the relationship products have with their users and their environment, and you will work on your practical and project skills in our specialist workshops. Year 2 will develop your practical and analytical skills through study of design methods, environmental considerations and the influence of history, culture, markets, materials and lifestyles on design. You will take on a specialist role in a group project and start detailed planning of your career. Further specialist study and projects in the final year, all informed by the School of Engineering's active research and industrial partnerships, will give you experience of the latest design challenges faced by industry and society.
