The Practical Nurse Certificate Program is offered in 3 semesters and requires a complete time commitment by the student to successfully meet all requirements. The nursing courses progress from simple to complex within a supportive liberal arts/sciences structure. Students gain specialized knowledge and skills which meet the health needs of people in a variety of settings. Clinical experiences allow the student to use a clinical problem-solving process (the nursing process) to collect and organize health care data, assist in the identification of health needs/problems throughout the client's lifespan, and contribute to the interprofessional team. Adherence to standards of care, accountability, and use of legal/ethical principles in nursing practice is emphasized.
