As an empirical cultural science, folklore / cultural anthropology examines everyday cultural phenomena and practices in their historical and social dimensions. It analyzes the historical development of contemporary societies, focusing on cultural processes and everyday life. The focus is thus on the concept of culture as the constant negotiation of the rules that organize the interaction of individuals and social groups. What is needed is the cultural logic of ideas and interpretations, practices and lifestyles. In particular, the analysis of everyday life should help to understand social and cultural differences as a consequence of or in the context of change processes.
