General nursing is a broad area of practice and involves caring for people with acute and long-term illness in hospital and community settings. Nurses educate and help patients to regain independence and cope with changing health needs. The B.Sc. Nursing (General) is a full-time four-year degree offered by the Department of Nursing and Midwifery, the University of Limerick in conjunction with the Health Service Executive West (Limerick, Clare and Tipperary North). On successful completion of the programme, students will be able to present for registration with An Bord Altranais agus Cn imhseachais na h ireann and practise as a Registered General Nurse (R.G.N.).
