They are responsible for overseeing the successful completion of normal childbirths, and administering to the new-born baby. As members of the health team and in accordance with professional ethics, they are qualified to provide nursing assistance that falls within their competence, identify potentially pathological situations which require medical intervention and carry out, where necessary, urgent relevant measures.
