The modern, externally accredited, programme is triphasic; Phase 1 comprises Foundation Year (6 year programme only) and Year 1. Phase 2 includes Year 2 and Year 3. The final two years of the programme constitute the 3rd phase which leads to the level 8 award of the degree of Bachelor of Medicine (MB), of Surgery (BCh) and of Obstetrics (BAO). Our undergraduate medical programme delivers a systems based curriculum which is horizontally and vertically integrated. Individual credit-bearing modules cover learning outcomes relevant to the scientific basis of medicine, patient assessment and clinical management. Students enjoy early patient contact opportunities which help them to develop the required communication and practical clinical skills.
