Description
This course of study focuses on the language, literature, and media culture of areas of the world in which French is spoken, e.g., France in Europe, Morocco in Africa, and Quebec in Canada. Special emphasis is placed on various forms of media, such as print media, film, electronic media, and the Internet. Students learn how to select appropriate media for particular purposes, take a critical stance on media issues, and orient themselves in the flood of information we are confronted with every day. This requires a familiarity with the historical and societal background of the francophone world, and of course also with the language.
