Animals play a significant role in the lives of people and communities, including for food and fibre production and pets for companionship. The Animal Health, Disease and Welfare major integrates the areas of animal biology and ecology with that in comparative and veterinary science. You will learn about the science that underpins the biology of animal health and disease including physiology, molecular biology, infectious agents and animal welfare. An emphasis of this major is the prevention, treatment and understanding of disease in production and companion animals and wildlife. This major will prepare you for a career in animal health sciences including areas of infectious disease control, disease surveillance, animal welfare and animal production industries.
