American Studies is designed for the student interested in the interdisciplinary study of American culture. It encourages flexibility and innovation within a general structure of areas of interest, including but not limited to: Cultural Studies; Southwest Studies; Environment, Science and Technology; Popular Culture; Gender and Sexuality Studies; Race, Class and Ethnicity. The student will work closely with an undergraduate advisor in putting together the major and must receive the advisor s approval for all course work. Nine hours of courses in American Studies may overlap with Arts and Sciences group requirements.
