Asian Studies as an interdisciplinary program provides a strategic and comprehensive approach to study and conduct basic researches on both the traditional and contemporary issues of Asia. The program establishes a link the disciplines of Social Sciences, such as politics, economics, and sociology, and the Humanities, such as history, philosophy, and literature, in order to contribute a vibrant learning environment. Contingent on the foregoing, this program is designed to establish the significance of the Asian continent and introduce Asian Studies as a major field of specialization through the identification of its scope and methodologies. As an interdisciplinary field of study, the course orients students with the various approaches employed in the study of the region by introducing the historical, philosophical, cultural, sociological, economic, and political theories which may be used as lenses to understand the developments and realities of the region in the past and the present
