English teachers are experts in targeted teaching and learning processes in English, which they design on the basis of scientific, didactic and methodological knowledge and appropriate skills with commitment and enjoyment in their subject. The goals of their teaching activities are to enable the students to communicate in the foreign language and to impart intercultural competence in the sense of a didactic of multilingualism. By teaching English as a world language, learners should be given ways to open up their own world. In addition, English teachers contribute to the development of methodological skills and strategies and to the independent and lifelong (language) learning of their students.
