Mechanical engineering is a creative and practical discipline that draws on a number of basic sciences to design and manufacture devices and products that benefit society. The curriculum covers the formulation, design, development, modeling, simulation and control of systems and components. It incorporates solid mechanics, dynamics and controls, fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, manufacturing and the conversion of energy into work. The degree is in demand across all industries, ranging from robotics to refrigeration and beyond. This program is offered in DeKalb or at Rockford College.
