Civil engineers give us the infrastructure that supports our lives. They design, construct and maintain our bridges, airports, roads, railways, water and waste supply. This degree is strongly hands-on. In our state-of-the-art facilities you will apply engineering theory to real-world challenges. In your final year, you will complete a major industry-related research project and a design project. You ll learn in our industry-standard specialist facilities such as the largest strong floor in the southern hemisphere and a 1200m long hydraulic testing facility and use hi-tech testing and computer modelling equipment. As well as a 12-week work placement, there will be lots of opportunities to learn by practical example, with guest lecturers from industry, simulated business environments and site visits to industrial facilities.
