The ever-improving standards of living have been followed by increasing demands for higher-level healthcare and medical services.Consequently, we are facing a need to build infrastructures---both in terms of human resources and materials---for the development of state-of-the-art medical equipment and facilities.Given this, biomedical engineering (BME) is an important academic discipline that is expected to grow continuously, supported by the social circumstances in which people's interest in health and welfare keeps growing as well, with BME sure to spearhead the medical industry in the 21st century.
