The Foundation Year in Arts and Humanities will introduce you to a broad study of the key themes which unite all of the subject areas. It will provide you with a supportive and stimulating learning environment, it will thoroughly prepare you for academic study in your chosen discipline and will help you to develop future career plans. You will share the foundational modules, Studentship, Education and Society, with the students on the Foundation to Social Sciences programme. You will take these modules in both semesters during which you will examine what you need to be successful in Higher Education and you will reflect upon your own approach to learning. You will consider your own experiences of formal assessment, such as exams, reading academically and academic writing conventions, to help develop strategies in overcoming any barriers to effective engagement.
