The 120-credit B.S. in Childhood Urban Education (Grades 1-6) leads to the degree of Bachelor of Science and eligibility for initial NYS certification in childhood education, grades 1-6. It prepares students to teach in elementary school classrooms.The major in Childhood Urban Education consists of 40 credits in Teaching and Learning. Optional extensions are available for students interested in teaching in middle schools or in bilingual classrooms. In addition, all students must select a 30-credit concentration or a second major in a Liberal Arts and Sciences area. Fieldwork is required throughout the program.
