The Philosophical Seminar was characterized for a long time by a concentration on classical themes of occidental philosophy. If one looks at today's picture, this tradition continues on the one hand, on the other hand, there is also a new focus in the philosophy of the 20th century: Accordingly, found in teaching and research not only the philosophy of antiquity, that of German idealism and the practical philosophy of classics, but also modern epistemology and philosophy of science as well as philosophy of mind and language philosophy.
