The Bachelor of Education or Master of Education in the field of Education Studies was established in the winter semester 2008/09. It includes a two-tier qualification system. Assessment takes place using a credit points system based on the ECTS model. In the Bachelor's/Master's degree program, binding curricular standards apply across the various locations for teacher training in Rhineland-Palatinate. With the new model, the focus on teaching techniques has been increased and a stronger practical approach has already been incorporated into the course with several practical sessions in schools. The academic part of the course also aims to provide students with solid knowledge to enable theory-based verdicts to be reached and develop the ability to reflect on issues. Education Studies is taught as an interdisciplinary course with a social science approach.
