The Hartford Art School offers eight studio majors leading to the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), one Bachelor of Arts (BA) program in Art History and three Master of Fine Arts (MFA) programs. The BFA is considered a professional degree, the BA program is considered a liberal arts degree and the MFA is considered the terminal graduate degree in the arts. All the programs are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). According to their standards, 65 percent of required credits for a BFA must be in the creation and study of the visual arts or design (with a minimum of 25 percent of those credits being in the field of specialization).
