The master's program in neuroscience prepares students for advanced study in the physiological and pharmacological properties of the nervous system at the molecular level, cellular level, and at the level of neuron networks and system functioning. All students are required to take departmental courses in Biostatistics, Lab Safety, Research Ethics, and Scientific Writing. These courses should be completed in the first year. For students who work with laboratory animals, an additional 8-hour course is required in the Ethical Conduct and Care of Research Animals.
