The Master's Degree Program in German Literature Studies makes it possible to focus on literature and culture in the German-speaking world from its beginnings in the 8th century to the present day. The differentiation of the subject within German philology is so important because literature, as a poetologically or aesthetically independent discourse system, requires an exact and thorough consideration as well as a historically staggered and systematically elaborated approach. The study includes methods and theories that have shaped the subject and currently determine it. These include hermeneutic, cultural studies and discourse analysis approaches, narratology, intermediality, philosophical aesthetics, literary ethnography, historical anthropology, interculturality, gender studies and much more.
