This course thoroughly prepares educators to support individuals with a range of special educational needs in mainstream classrooms and fills a much-needed gap in professional development for teachers in the field. We use a Design Thinking approach to analyse issues and challenges faced by persons with a range of additional learning needs. In particular, it focuses on problem solving, informed by advanced theoretical knowledge, from a person first perspective. The course highlights three distinct streams; all of which address the challenges and issues faced by mainstream teachers in 21st Century educational practice.
