Film Studies allows you to explore the history and theory of cinema, alongside issues of genre and the impact of digital technologies on this rapidly changing art form. A combination of core and optional modules will give you a good grounding in the concepts and approaches in film studies while allowing you to explore film from Hollywood to Japan and Korea, art house to blockbusters. With the support of the Centre for World Cinemas at Leeds you ll have a wide range of options to choose from.Japan is an important player on the world stage. This degree will combine core and optional modules so you can learn Japanese from scratch, as well as gaining an insight into the culture, history and politics of Japan and East Asia as a whole. You ll spend a year studying at a Japanese university to improve your skills, as well as studying topics from translation to Japanese cinema, Sino-Japanese relations and East Asian religions. This course is only open to non-native Japanese speakers.
