The University of Jyväskylä's education in information and software technology combines studies in information technology and humanities. Through the studies, the student acquires i) immediate professional skills that will enable him or her to enter working life upon graduation, and ii) the basics of lifelong learning, on the basis of which the graduate can voluntarily develop his or her professional skills during his or her career. The training responds to the global trend to develop IT systems to streamline the needs and services of human activity. Implementing solutions requires IT professionals who, in addition to technology, understand the needs and environments in which the systems are being developed and who are able to work naturally with humanities experts.
The multidisciplinary nature of the University of Jyväskylä creates a framework for combining other areas of interest with studies in information technology. In addition to IT studies, it is possible to choose e.g. sports and health sciences, music, arts, culture, psychology, languages and communication, mathematics, learning technology and pedagogy, business studies or many other options.
The degree provides expert skills in designing and implementing IT systems and leading the work of expert communities.
Studies do not require previous experience in programming or information technology.

Students selected for the application will complete a bachelor's degree in engineering and a master's degree in engineering at the Faculty of Information Technology. It is possible to choose studies in other subjects included in the degrees from all the faculties of the university.
