Industrial design is an engineering degree. At the University of Applied Arts Vienna, design is the focus of the course. Industrial design is taught with a sense of responsibility for cultural, social, ecological, economic and political developments. The field of activity includes questions about the design of our environment, both in terms of objects and processes and procedures. The approach to the discipline takes place through people, their ideal and material needs, and through the environment in which they move.
The later professional activity is carried out on a freelance basis or within companies or institutions, as well as in science, teaching or research.
