For any manager in the health sector there is no doubt that innovation is key to the future sustainability of his or her organisation. Managers already face many challenges – changes in demographics, the explosion of new technology in the med tech, life sciences and digital sectors, the need to care for populations that enjoy longer lives but increasingly experience long term chronic diseases, the need for organisational and process innovations to improve quality and safety but also maintain affordability.
The focus of the EHIMP is to prepare leaders in the healthcare sector for the future and equip them with the knowledge they need to lead the changes in the existing systems and the development of new services and solutions.
The course is delivered in three modules, each lasting a good three days. These are based at Imperial College Business School in London (modules 1 and 3) and CBS Executive at Copenhagen Business School (module 2). Each offers a mix of class sessions which explore the drivers of healthcare innovation, the key challenges for their realisation and how to address them. We introduce you to the analytical and managerial tools that are needed. We include live case studies of practical implementation of healthcare innovations as well as company visits.
The three modules focus on inter-related sets of drivers:
Class sessions are interactive and draw on the active contributions from participants on their own challenge and experiences.
A VARIETY OF LEARNING FORMATS
In addition to classes on specific innovation areas, each module has sessions on management and leadership skills, design thinking, corporate venturing and innovation implementation.
Throughout the course you will work on your own selected ‘executive challenge’, discussed and shared with peer participants and faculty.
Online components of the course assist participants by providing the basic knowledge and help them build the best possible learning outcomes. The course also provides access to key learning material within healthcare innovation such as key reports and research literature, and videos.
A major benefit of the course is the networking possibilities it offers among senior healthcare professionals from across the value chain, from Europe and beyond.
EXECUTIVE CHALLENGE – BRING YOUR OWN PROJECT
The executive challenge gives you the opportunity to bring a relevant, real-time strategic, operational or personal business challenge to the programme and receive individual feedback and recommendations from a team of high-level peers. Participants tap into the knowledge, experience and networks of their teammates to develop an action plan. You also benefit from personalised support during preparation through a highly structured, facilitator-led problem-solving approach.
