Description

Most data science programs are housed in departments of computer science or statistics. These provide training in the development and use of general data science tools. However, they do not provide training in the analysis of human behavior. Our program will provide rigorous training in the statistical and advanced data science tools for studying human behavior. Our department is home to international experts in the use of machine learning and other data science tools as applied to understanding human behavior. Increasingly, industry, government, and non-profit sectors are seeking employees who are knowledgeable about human behavior but also have the analytical skills to solve applied problems. However, to do this well, one needs to be trained in the study of human behavior, in all of its complexity. The behavioral sciences produce large numbers of graduates, who have a strong understanding of human behavior and the general approaches required to study human behavior. Providing behavioral graduates with applied data-science skills will make them even more competitive on the job market while meeting a large demand in the marketplace.
