Technologies are at the core of current societies and continue to shape our lives. New technologies like robotics, genetic manipulation or brain implants are disrupting all domains of life: healthcare, industry, arts, food, architecture, politics, finance, mobility. How to think about these developments? How to judge them? What to do?
This programme provides a thorough 2-year training to address the questions of technology in society. The programme mobilizes theories, methods and insights from history, sociology, philosophy and qualitative social sciences.
You will study in Maastricht - the home of a world-leading research group in this field - and abroad, in an international research internship. You will be an original researcher who combines the strengths of philosophy, sociology, art and history to raise novel questions and to find relevant answers.
