Chemical Engineering

The Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Patras (DCEUP) was founded in 1977. Its first undergraduate students were admitted in 1978 and graduated in 1983. Since its foundation the Department has been committed to teaching and research of international standards.

The Department of Chemical Engineering is housed in a 5000 m2 building with excellent instrumentation and computing facilities. The research in the Department is characterized by the application of fundamentals to technological issues. The atmosphere in the Department is informal and international with several non-Greek researchers present at any time and a continuous and dense flow of internationally recognized seminar speakers. Most of the research funding comes from the EEC via competitive R&D programmes in close collaboration with numerous European industrial and academic research centres.

The five years undergraduate studies are divided in ten semesters (two semesters per academic year), including a diploma thesis. Upon successful completion of the courses given through the ten semesters the degree Diploma in Chemical Engineering is awarded.
