Description
The Master’s degree course in biochemistry at the Goethe Universität Frankfurt is based on a long-standing tradition in biomolecular research and education. The course aims at providing scientific knowledge and occupational skills to candidates that they may become independent researchers. The Master’s programme includes Cellular Biochemistry, Structural Biology and Biophysics/Biophysical Chemistry and allows setting focal points depending on the students interests. Training is arranged in close cooperation with the local research environment and includes the departments of Physics, Molecular Biology, Medicine, Max-Planck-Institute for Biophysics, Paul-Ehrlich-Institute and Georg-Speyer-Haus. The programme especially accommodates membrane proteins and structural biology, areas in which Frankfurt has a strong research tradition. Graduates will be able to make decisions that are based on rational case analysis and reflect an established scientific tradition, while keeping ethic and social conditions in mind. The Natural- and Life sciences are developing very fast. Therefore it is important that the students continue to educate themselves and to integrate new knowledge throughout their subsequent careers. Our graduates are qualified to continue with a PhD or to get a job in industry, business management or in marketing, publishing companies or business consultancies.
