Our Master and PhD courses in Accounting & Finance focus on understanding the role of accounting information in market and organizational dynamics. The courses are strongly oriented to the development of internationally qualified researchers. We encourage undergraduates to expand their horizons into the graduate subjects, Master's students to develop a high-level research project that enables them to go straight to the PhD program and PhD students to take part of their program abroad.
The research areas are (i) financial accounting & finance, and (ii) managerial accounting, but emerging issues are welcome, such as accounting education. The Managerial Accounting research area studies the information effects on performance in inter and intra organizational relationships, including private owned, non-for-profit or governmental organizations (Public Sector).
The Accounting & Finance research area analyzes the dynamics of accounting regulation for capital markets and the associated effects on stakeholders' responses to the accounting framework, for public or private owned enterprises or governments.
The master's takes no longer than 24 months (beginning every March) and the PhD takes up to 48 months (beginning every August). The University of São Paulo courses are free of charge and some scholarships are available under a competition.
