The sustainable future
We face the enormous challenge of safeguarding the well-being of our earth and the plants, animals and people that live there for the future. The VU conducts multidisciplinary research for this purpose. The aim is a sustainable balance between economic, ecological and social interests for our and future generations. This also means that we have to break existing behavior. For example, how do we persuade governments, companies and consumers to adopt sustainable behavior? Are we accelerating the energy transition? Do we produce less wastefully and more fairly for our fellow man elsewhere in the world? VU scientists conduct leading and groundbreaking research into sustainability in all its facets.
