Digitality and new technologies and materials change our world every day and challenge the way we think and act. The scale extends from the small structural parts of matter all the way to the phenomena of space. Artificial intelligence makes it possible to use different amounts of data more widely and more efficiently. Digitality opens up new perspectives for examining the surrounding society, human activity and ethics. We also need ethical, moral and social reflection in the midst of change.
Future technologies and the digital world is one of the six thematic entities of the University of Turku. These areas of our strength promote interdisciplinary research and teaching and create platforms for networking and collaboration.
Future technologies and the digital world participates in building a sustainable, functional and accessible digital society.
Our top research areas are materials and information technology, artificial intelligence and sustainable energy. Our new openings in technology education complement this multidisciplinary entity and strengthen cooperation.
